Dear reader,
In just two weeks, The Orange & Bee will be opening for submissions for Issue five the first issue for our second year.
The window opens on January 1 and closes on January 14. Keep in mind that we are an Australian-based publication, which means that submission windows (and publishing dates) are roughly one day ahead of the US, Canada, and Europe.
The Orange & Bee uses Duosuma to manage submissions. The link to submit is https://duotrope.com/magazine/the-orange-and-bee-37221.
For Issue five, we are looking for short fiction/non-fiction, flash fiction/non-fiction, and poetry.
Word/line limits
Poetry: up to 50 lines (but we’re a little bit flexible!)
Flash: up to 1000 words
Short fiction/non-fiction: up to 4000 words
Payment
Poetry: flat rate $US50.00 per poem
Flash: flat rate $US80.00 per story (max 1000 words)
Short fiction/non-fiction: $US0.08 per word (max 4000 words)
For past open submissions, we’ve received a real glut of Hansel & Gretel, Red Riding Hood, and mermaid/selkie tales. While we do love these traditional tales, but choosing from the many other traditional tales to work with is more likely to grab our attention!
For more information on what we are looking for, check out our Submissions guidelines.
We look forward to reading your submissions of wild, magical poems, short stories, and flash, and to getting to know you better as you continue to contribute to our growing community of enchanted writers, and readers.
May your days be filled with wonder, and your nights with enchantment,
Nike & Carina
